Yep, one of those NIBs last week went for $180 plus a lot more for shipping.

If I hadn't already spent so much on keyboards lately, I'd buy this one immediately. I do worry a bit about a seller that is so new, though.

Same here, I already have an excellent example of a model m mini, but the NIB is almost too good to be true.

Maybe its me, but I don't see a whole lot of model m mini's much less NIB.
The fact that they are still NIB is really amazing to me too.

There seem to be way more full size model m's available, which makes sense to me.

I don't think they are swappable. And I don't think the keys are available in black. I could be wrong though, but I don't recall ever seeing a black model m mini....

the ibm m13 is a black model m mini, sort of. anyways ive heard of people getting black unicomp keys somehow. i think black on white might look ok. just seeing if its an option.

I don't think the m13 is buckling spring though, that can be a problem. You can get black keys from Unicomp but they are not lettered. I did this with a Unicomp spacesaver and it looked pretty cool.

The M13 is merely a (regular 101-key with drainage holes and permanent PS/2 cable) Model M with a TrackPoint and a PS/2 passthrough for an external mouse added on.

I think m13's sell for 175$-300$ these days. and i have read that they aren't as good as original model m's (my word is **** tho).

I lucked out and got one for under 100 USD, but I had to do some repair work on it. It's definitely not as well built as my older Ms are, but I can't complain.

My M13's seem to have a different feel to a classic M. I'd prefer an older Model M feel, and two piece keys, but hey it's black and has character!

If it's any consolation, Bigpook, the one you got comes with the original box (same date). The one Wheels got did not but was ~$50 cheaper.

Is it safe to say that Model M spacesavers with a birth date of March 1991 until 1996 are Lexmark-manufactured?

In March of 1991, IBM divested a number of its hardware manufacturing operations, including keyboard manufacturing, to the investment firm Clayton & Dubilier, Inc. in a leveraged buyout to form Lexmark International, Inc.[2][3] The Model M keyboard continued to be produced by Lexmark in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and Scotland with IBM being the major customer.[4] Many of the keyboards had IBM part number 52G9658, 83G2383, 42H1292, and others. Because of pricing pressures, many of these Model M keyboards were manufactured with a new lower-cost keyboard design to improve its competitiveness in the keyboard business.[5] Integrated keyboard cable and uniform print color on the keys were among some of the changes made.

In 1996, a company called Unicomp bought the Model M design from Lexmark.

Maybe I am lucky....but I do have a Lexmark mini that was made in '94 and I have no issues with it.

Heres the '91 I just got.

Upfront...

I have tried many keyboards in the last year and they are all good in way or another but the Model M mini
has it all, for me anyways.

Yes it does. I had a mini that was made in 87 I think ( I no longer have it) IIRC it had one piece keys. My '94 has 2 piece keys too.
I had a thread here somewhere about 1 piece versus 2 piece. I think its subtle, but I prefer 2 piece. Of course, I could be imagining it too : )

I am really liking it too. My only issue is it gets wonky after awhile if I have it plugged into a KVM. I tried both USB and PS/2 KVMs and have had issues. Right now it is plugged into the computer and it works fine.

That is correct. It also has some additional lettering on some of the keys.
I think it was originally made for some financial institution.

funny. I just tried it out, press shift and numlock but the 'numpad' does nothing. Thankfully, I never used it.

ps: you would think a financial institution would want a numpad, no?
