Looking for specific caps to replace my 6GV2's caps
« on: Fri, 07 February 2014, 07:26:12 »
Hey all,

My 6GV2 has keycaps that are now shinier than a baby's behind, and my neanderthal nails have made gross rivets in them.

I've been looking all over for sets to replace it, but the Big Ass Enter is a big-pain-in-the-ass to find.

I've seen some gorgeous sets on a Taobao store but they are all sold out...

Of all the internet keyboard forums, y'all are probably the most knowledgeable on such a topic.

Here are the two respective sets:

The only that I know are currently available that 100% fit Steelseries are these Max keyboard sets.

Yeah I've seen those before, but I'm not really a fan of the Max keycaps. They're ABS and almost transparent, which I think looks gross.

I looked high and low for the engraved ones for my 7g. I know this isn't the solution you're looking for but I just ended up buying a filco cause I couldn't find caps. Not the best solution I've ever come up with.

I'm worried something like that may happen. I might just make it ghetto and ignore the enter key problems. I plan on using it for solder practice anyways.

after finding out that it's pretty much impossible to get replacement keycaps for my Steelseries 7G, I've relegated that keyboard to being my keyboard at my workplace.

found these site that sells keycaps with the large enter keys
- http://www.qwerkeys.co.uk/product-category/key-caps/sets/
- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-037-DK&groupid=702&catid=2705&subcat=2455

I think you're confusing ISO enter with the big enter. All the UK keyboards have that particular enter, the one on the steelseries keyboards is different. It's a pain.

Same problem here. I want to replace my shiny keycaps from my steelseries 6gv2.

I rly like the pic with the white blanks ...
But cant find that enter key :(

I would be also interested in fitting keycaps with german layout :)

The only option I can think of is to find someone who has bought the Max keycap set, and ask them for their big enter key. Then you can buy whatever set you want and have the max keyboard enter, not a perfect match but it will work. I wonder if we could convince Max to sell the enters by themselves.

I browsed http://keycapsdirect.com/ 5 mins ago and i think i may have found a shop where we could purchase that big enter key.

But i personally dont know which would be the right key. I just saw the J shape enter key on http://keycapsdirect.com/pdfs/DCSFamily.pdf.

Maybe someone else with more experience with keycaps could identify the keycaps a steelseries 6gv2 owner has to buy....

That would be really nice... i dont know how long i was searching for this enter key...

I'm not sure if the 6GV2 enter has the same dimensions as the J enter from SP. The top dimension of 1x unit doesn't look like it'd fit the 6GV2 enter. I'm not sure. And besides, I don't see any in their inventory.

You could double check the inventory, then contact SPLady here on GH or email them and ask. Like I said I'm not sure that SP one will fit.

I'm also looking for a replacement set of keycaps for my 6gv2.  I've had so many keycaps break from just daily use, it's maddening.  Or maybe I should just say heck with it and get a newer keyboard that doesn't use shoddy parts.

very likely your only option, unfortunately.
