Hello! Is my keyboard worth anything?
« on: Sat, 08 February 2014, 04:34:30 »
Hello! I'm pretty new here, registered an account some time back but haven't posted anything yet.

Anyways, I own an IBM Model M2 from 1993, with Nordic ISO layout. 1395713, has buckling springs. Good condition, I'm probably going to sell it as it isn't (much like the original Model M) capable of even 6-KRO with PS/2. With certain key combinations you can't even press a third key without hearing a beep and having the keystroke not register. Great for typing, not so great for gaming.

Also I'm planning on getting a new mechanical, Rosewill RK-9000BR. I'm not really fond of the blues since they sound too plastic-like in my opinion. I'd still like to have some tactility, so I'm guessing browns are the best for me. I won't bother with the more rare switches.

you might have better luck selling this on deskthority. buckling spring boards command more of a premium in europe i think, especially EU layouts.

also look into a board with cherry clears if you want tactility, or look into an alps board like the AEKII (with an adapter) or a dell. unfortunately looks like wasd and MK are both out of stock for clear boards, but you might be able to find something in classifieds.

I have had two with Swedish layout and they sold for 25€ and 35€ respectively (the latter had a box). I sort of regret selling it as I sort of liked it.

Edit: I believe some of them had issues with rollover as some combinations common today are blocked which is probably what you have noticed.
