Case in point: my Poker 2 is light and yet it is plate mounted therefore giving out an impression of a very solid build. Compare Poker 2 to HHKB and at half the price, HHKB feels like an expensive rich-man toy.

This all comes back to the same debate HHKB vs RF.  Case mounted vs. Plate mounted. Either you like the warmer feel of the HHKB or you prefer a more isolated solid feel of the RF.  There are reasons people prefer either or both.  Some people don't appreciate the qualities of the other and some do.

If it was a kids toy, it certainly wouldn't sell so as inconceivable s it might seem, just because YOU don't like it, a lot of others might.  At the same time, you only have to see how many HHKBs are flipped hours after they're tried to see that it isn't going to be liked for everyone.  Whether that be layout, switches or general feel.

So then plate mounted = quality?

My Filco is heavy and plate mounted. When I squeeze the case, it creaks. Filco is supposed to be one of the highest quality MX brands.

My HHKB is relatively light. The case, however, is completely solid, making no noise and having no flex when I squeeze it.

I PMd you but for everyone else to know. I tested my HHKB on my mac book pro and it worked great.

You have to download KeyRemap4MacBook then go to Change F1..F19 key. Then check mark F1 through F12. Now cmd + Fn + 3 is like Cmd + F3. :)

Oh also you change the dip switch on the side to Mac mode.

I got an 87u finally. It's nice but way to big, I like the HHKB more. :)

Just to add to what Dustin said, I use my type-s on my macbook and it works beautifully (I also use KeyRemap4MacBook for any customisations, I actually made L win + wasd arrows as well so I can leave my right hand on the mouse in photoshop and still move things with the arrows), I also work with most of the Adobe desktop products and I haven't had any issues yet, even though I thought I might.

As far as quality goes the HHKB is a lovely case mounted board mine has absolutely no squeak or even flex for that matter. It's solid and light and I do have other boards to compare it to. I also have two HHKBs and couldn't get myself to trade one of them for a 55g Realforce even though I would really like one as well.
