Hi folks!
I got a trackpoint from a T41/T42 keyboard for a few bucks. As I want to insert the trackpoint into another keyboard I removed it and soldered it to a PS/2 connection which I put into a PS/2->USB converter. The chip is a TPM 754. Now, there are (at least) two different advices for the correct way to connect to a PS/2 plug. First, I tried the following:
TXD & INT0/CLK to VCC with 4.7k
RST to GND
That one did not work. Then, I found another suggestion, but for another model:
TXD & INT0/CLK to VCC with 4.7k
RST to GND with 100k
RST to VCC with 2.2uF
This one at least worked for one or two instances. But now I am stuck as I have ruled out loose connections.
Can somebody tell me if one or the other is the correct way to connect to PS/2?
Many thanks in advance
