im trying to decide between the two of these and whether to get the backlit version of zero. are there also any other good boards the meet my requirements and are about the same price range?

The Zero is higher quality than the XT. What's your price range? Seems to vary sometimes so I'm hesitant to make suggestions since your location might affect prices.

The non backlit zero is cheaper than the xt whereas the backlit one is slightly more expensive. Btw im from SG too.

Have you used both a ducky zero and an CM XT?

The zero line is ducky's budget line which I hear are not nearly as nice as the Shine series. I personally have not used a zero but I do have an XT and it is a very well built solid keyboard.

I've personally tried tried both, and I would say the Zero was higher quality. It wasn't extended exposure though, so other input is welcome.

I've personally tried tried both, and I would say the Zero was higher quality. It wasn't extended exposure though, so other input is welcome.

I was just curious as all I've had so far is a ducky shine 2 and I really like it, its definitely heavier than the XT, but I'm not familiar at all with the zero line. Maybe one day I'll try one

CM XT > Ducky Zero

Ducky zero is a budget board, like their dk1087 boards - it's not as bad as one of those, but it isn't as nice as the CM XT - XT is a solid keyboard.

In my opinion They both have fairly rubbish pcb's inside them though.

My only contribution is saying the CM XT is the best MX Blue board I've typed on.  I don't care what the haters say - they do FEEL different than the QFR - more crisp and satisfying.

I typed on a QFR and XT side by side out of the box and was shocked how much more satisfying the XT was.

Technically, Cooler Master XT and Ducky Zero are quite different.

You should focus on these points:

+ XT Made in Taiwan vs Ducky Zero Made in China
+ XT Costa stabilizers vs Ducky Zero Cherry stabilizers
+ XT removable cables vs Ducky Zero non-removable cables
+ XT keycap vs Ducky Zero keycap
+ XT case finished vs Ducky Zero case finished

However, Singapore now is dominated by Ducky. We can see Ducky everywhere from Sim Lim to Funan.
Personally, it's quite hard to find a Filco or CM XT with a reasonable price in Singapore.

I've got eight or ten Ducky keyboards, and a couple of CM boards as well, but if you're looking for other alternatives I'd definitely suggest looking into the Keycool line.  Back-lighting on WASD and directional arrows, but you can turn it off; plate-mounted switches; many thoughtful design details; and a comparable price point.

If you've narrowed down the choice to Ducky or CM, my vote would be to go for Ducky.

I'd be wary of Keycool.  A lot of people have had warping issues in recent batches and even qtan has said he may discontinue selling them because of it.

Yes indeed, I'm in Vietnam but I need to travel to Singapore for my work quite regularly.

Last time, when I visited Cybermind and Fuwell, I saw the prices of CM and Filco are quite higher than in Vietnam (CM Stealth at 148 SGD ~ 120 USD but in Vietnam it's about 100 USD)
On the other hand, I saw XtremeSolution is selling Ducky same price in Vietnam (189 SGD for Ducky Shine 3 TKL)

When was the last time you visited? I went to Sim Lim a few weeks ago and most of the stores with keyboards were pretty well stocked with different brands.

I think I can help with this. I have a Ducky 2108 and a Filco MJ2 sitting in front of me, both with MX Blacks. If you think the Ducky is a cheap budget keyboard you are very mistaken. The Ducky is every bit as solid as this Filco. The only glaring difference between them is the stabilizers. It comes down to that really. Don't let any dissuade you from buying a Ducky, they are every bit as good as the Filco as far as I can tell.

Well the filco mj2 is kinda out of my budget anyways. With the xt being slighty more expensive than the ducky zero but cheaper than ducky zero shine, Im not sure which to go for. Furthurmore theres so many differing opinions on which is better. A point to note is that this will be my first mech board so i might not actually notice the difference in stabalisers.

Last night I moved my Tai Hao caps from my Ducky to my Filco. The keycaps sit a bit deeper in the Filco case and look very nice. For stabilizer feel I would give a slight edge to the Costars, but they are a bit noisier than the Cherry stabs. It's a toss up in my mind. I need to sell my Ducky and Rosewill now

So there is a difference of 40 sing dollar. Are you price elastic? or 40 dollar is price inelastic for you?
I bought my ducky shine 3 tkl at 180.
Ducky zero is an entry lvl board. but still it has all you need in a mech board from a renowned keyboard maker.
My suggestion if 40 buck is price inelastic for you, go with ducky, if not get an quickfire xt. if you can throw in 180 get a ducky shine 3. Btw mine has DIP switches, i am not  sure ducky zero has it. For example i can turn off the right windows key.

I can’t imagine being a regular at Xtremesolutions, considering their pricing.
But then again, I have not bought anything from an SLS shop in quite a while. Not as if my Model M and F will die in the next decade.
