That is interesting. Of a dozen or so F-122s that have passed through my hands over the last few years, probably a quarter of them were from August 1985, and I don't think I ever had one newer than that.

Also, I have never had one that was not numbered 6110xxx, I thought that the part number 138xxxx/139xxxx signified the change to the Model M.

Some model Fs are 138**** For example the "unsaver" is a 1387033. It has been speculated that these came from lexmark using IBM parts and equipment, or as refurbs or something.

I'm not sure if I knew of the 1385151 product number before now.

You can see that the APL model F in this posthas a PN of 1385167. also a relatively new date of 16 oct '85

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that Model Fs would not have keycaps, correct?  It seems that this keyboard is missing a keycap for key to the left of "1".  If that is the case, then is this one of the keyboards that is changing to Model M as suggested by fohat.digs? 

I am just starting to learn about keyboards so could be way off here.

All my Fs have had 2-piece keys, with rare exceptions, except for the XTs, which usually had 1-piece keys.

Maybe I should check my AT, I have not had it out in a couple of years.

Depends, the one I got was 55$ + shipping, but I was very lucky I suppose. JD got less lucky...

Don't ever count on no one finding it. I knew about it before this thread appeared. If you have a search saved on eBay with the right keywords, you'll find these things in your email periodically.

A bit off topic, but I've found ebay's notifications to be near useless, because they're delayed by hours. Does anyone have a recommendation for an instantaneous email notification service?

^this. I have my own IBM filters set up on eBay, and I know several other GH'ers that do too. The only items that go "unnoticed" are mis-listed, and often not even then.

For example, I saw as displaywriter (beamspring) listed as "IBM system information card". The word "keyboard' was not in the title or description. Yet, another Geekhacker still noticed it. (and politely declined to bid for my sake).

Hmmm...  I wonder if anyone has written a tool to perform searches periodically.   Might be a market for such a tool.  The difficult aspect is that ebay does not provide an API, so you have to scrape the data.

For example, a search for "IBM keyboard" give 10K hits and "Dell keyboard" yields 30K hits. And my ebay is only set to North America.

and yet a few simple exclusions narrows things down considerably. For example "ibm keyboard -usb -black -lenovo -laptop -thinkpad -think -pos" has less than 1000 hits, and you can easily get it down to a few hundred with more.

I am not a software developer, but I am reasonably confident that I am not the first person to think of this. There is probably a good reason there's no such tool. But yes, anyone who could develop this service would rake in cash  :thumb:
