Driver Issues - Worst day ever.
« on: Fri, 28 February 2014, 20:36:59 »
So today has literally been the day that has on the edge of having a nervous break down.

Parcel didn't come and is held until I get the paperwork to pay it, my SSD broke and had to fork out money for a new one, I had to partition my drives which was a hassle because I couldn't access my computer, my video drivers wont install and that's why I'm here.

Now bear in mind, this has never been an issue in the past, not once, I have literally never had this issue in the entire time I've had this new rig/set-up (I updated it last .. February), I have not had a problem installing drivers or anything.

Now, I've tried this on both Windows 7 and Windows 8 and both times? Utter crap it just fails.

I've tried going into my Bios to see if there's an issue there and there does not appear to be, I've tried having only 1 monitor attached and so on.

Yes it is connected to the graphics card btw.

I guess the only thing I could possibly do would be to see if there is a BIOS update, but like I said, I've never had this issue before.

Any advice?

you have a pretty great life if a missed parcel and some computer problems have taken you to the brink of a nervous breakdown
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

did you try reverting to previous version in device manager(or w/e it's called)?  I'm assuming this is a problem that came up during an update.

Well, I have an AMD card and installed Nvidia's drivers, so I should be good.

Sheesh, some people, thinking I'm an idiot or something.

judging by the topic name, i thought the OP hit the wall or a street light or a police car or something
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Go in device manager, right click the gpu, choose uninstall and check delete driver software for device, reboot then try install driver again. It should be all fresh now and not trying to do over the top update.
Also... why such old version? It's on like 334.x now.

+1 to this ^,  But first I would clear CMOS.  With all of your hardware changes, you should probably clear CMOS, then load your customized settings, or optimized default settings.  Next, instead of using device mgr, I would suggest going to Start/Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall Program.  And I would advise you to uninstall all nVidia drivers, and then start over with new installs, of both video AND chipset drivers.  Also, as Ivan said, install the NEWEST version of the drivers.  Also make sure you have the correct 32-bit or 64-bit version, AND the correct Windows version, either 7 or 8.  You might have something mixed up.  With all of the problems, it's easy to get stressed out and mix something up.  Try to take a little time and realize it's not the end of the world, and then approach it rationally and calmly.  I know this is easier said than done.

If uninstalling and reinstalling drivers still doesn't work, then Windows is corrupt.  Which sounds like it's very likely for three reasons:  (1) Windows sucks the @ss; (2) Hardware problems/changes/ interruptions, can corrupt Windows; (3) a mouse-fart can corrupt Windows.  Could be any of those reasons.  Only option is to reformat and reinstall Windows.  You will lose data, if you didn't back it up.
