Kawasaki Keyboard with Japanese/English Legends

Based on the back of the PCB, it looks like it's Cherry MX, but I'd ask for a cap off to make sure.

Haha, it's got a layout similar to the HHKB...except it's probably a couple decades old.  :p

and the rubber domes are probably brittle and falling apart  :p
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

Looks like MX plate mount with SMD diodes based on the back of the PCB.  Like I said, I could be wrong though.

I don't see any SMD diodes.  Can you point them out?

I'm guessing on the front.  I didn't see any diode legs on the back, so I'm assuming they're on the front.

I would be surprised to see a keyboard this old with SMD components.

It's probably only a simple 2KRO matrix. I seriously doubt they would have bothered with anything else considering it's intended application. Maybe would be worth picking up for about half the asking price as I suspect the keycaps are old style Cherry dyesub PBTs. If it was assembled in Japan there is also a good chance it has one of the Cherry-Hirose MX variants in it.

I'd be all over it, but I can't justify $100 on it.  It is awesome looking though and now I'm curious about the switches.

those black things on the bag could be diode arrays. There are enough of them for it to have NKRO. No SMD though.

I agree: good chance of hirose

You'd be surprised, I think.

I still really kind of want it.  If it does end up being hirose, I'd love you to send one for me to check out and review. I'm having fun doing my odd switch review.  I'll, of course, send it back.

He declined by offer of $40.37. I'm out of this race if someone else wants it.

And it looks like it was some nice thick dyesub PBT with Cherry Clears:
