You'll get most noise from bottoming out, not the click of the switches.  O-rings will help with that.

The click is still rather loud, but I think the main problem is that it is so high pitched and afaik human ears are more sensitive to high pitched noises.

This. Also the split second between the tactile click and the bottom out sound, cascades together and compounds the total volume. Well from what my ears can tell. The click may not be "as loud" as bottoming out, but it's a sound that is a lot more difficult to ignore and tends to piss people off - at least that's the feedback I get at work lol

We've got of us here with MX blue and me with MX green - no-one complains, but everyone knows when we are working on something :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It just come down to the individual. We had a seating rearrangement recently. Before the move, no one noticed or cared, but now I'm pissing a lot of my new neighbours off lol

I know I'm late to the party here, but just a heads up, there's a Microcenter in Houston, TX. The Microcenter near me, and one in KC, both carried ducky keyboards. Policies vary per branch, but both of the ones I've been to would let you take keyboards out of the box to test them. Might be worth a look.

I literally was checking websites all over the world for Duckies, the only ones I could find that were brown switches, and the led color i wanted besides orange led BLECH. Were in UK that would be $240 after shipping, and in Au and when i got to the checkout it was local only LOL. I'm not worrying though I'm a touch typist, so LED's probably woulda been a wasted thing on me, I mean honestly half the appeal of the ducky is the LED modes. Maybe in the future when I get more money and ducky's are in stock i'll get a shine 3 with green LED's like I planned. But for right now I'm happy and content waiting on my filco MJ2 from the neighbor to the north the Great land of CANADIA  NCIX please don't let me down lol:P

I know there's only 20 odd million of us over here in Australia, but seriously the vast majority of the working population buys stuff from from the USA. It would make sense to create some kind of postal agreement between our countries that reduces the cost to something much closer to local shipping. Not sure how this would be viable - maybe a subscription based service that allows access to the better postal service?

Anyhoo, way OT. Just venting.

Don't be silly - that would make sense!

From the length of your posts and the amount you have learnt I would guess you are the kind of guy who might be sucked down this rabbit hole. If that is true save yourself a lot of time and money and get a topre board. Maybe a fullsize realforce or 87u and mx numpad.

So according to you, sooner or later a mech enthusiast will get converted to Topre. That is simply wrong.

Oh by no means, just his preference for browns and the kind of questions he is asking. Of course that is by no means a guarantee that Topre is for him but I would say it's worth a look if he wants to save some money long run.
