they should shoot for one round yearly, moq 2000, price that at 180 or less, and offer 6-8 types of cherry switches.
multiple rounds don't do much good
Multiple rounds increase availability and decrease turnaround time. If they could get the price under 100 that way, it might be worthwhile for some, but for most, having to wait for either the high MOQ to be met, ordered, processed, quality controlled, shipped or having to wait until next year if they missed this year's GB just isn't worth a ~10% savings, and for many it wouldn't even be worth a 50% savings. This in turn would just drive up the time to meet that high MOQ even more.
They way that they're doing it is ideal as far as I'm concerned, honestly, because if they can show that there is sufficient and regular demand for the product, they can either start keeping stock of them or partner with a company to produce them en masse -- ordering in advance and using those further savings to pay for the storage, profit their company, and even potentially drop the price a bit for everyone. With the added bonus that their customers would no longer need to wait for a group buy to complete in order to get one shipped to them.
