How to repair a filco maj2 help me!
« on: Tue, 25 March 2014, 00:34:59 »
So after searching and not really seeing any issues like mine, Maybe some peep's that are smarter about filco keyboards could help me out... I believe I fried the controller on my FKBN104MC/EMU2 (Majestouch 2 Camouflage) with a large static discharge I don't know how it happened I just know I released a huge static charge through the keyboard, rebooted my PC and VoIP phone and now the keyboard appears to be dead. When I plug it in all LED's are solid keyboard is unrecognizable to the PC .

I can't seem to find much information on the controller or finding a replacement (Only thing I have seen is possibly the guy on here that does the Kitten Paw stuff) I would like to try to repair this as it is a fairly expensive keyboard and not something I want to throw in the trashcan and using rubber dome's @ work is horrible. If anyone could point me in the right direction for more trouble shooting or replacement of a part to try it out would be appreciated. If it's any consolation the LED's basically flicker now since the static occurred and are very dim.

I think I will need a lazy susan to hold my keyboards.

I will hit him up, do you know off hand if they come pre-set or is it something that will have to be programmed?

I believe if you buy an assembled replacement controller from bpiphany, it comes with a default layout programmed to it.

If you just want to replace the stock controller with another, I can send you one for free. I will be using a Kitten Paw in one Filco. Just send me a PM with your address if you want to go that route.

I would go that route, I am not looking to do anything custom with this board, it is my work keyboard.  I can give you a few bucks + S&H for it.

No need for that, I can cover it. Just repay the favor to someone else sometime.
