New geekhack t-shirt thread
« on: Wed, 01 April 2009, 14:43:29 »
I have high-quality geekhack-logo'ed t-shirts available through my local Aramark service center if anyone is interested.  The cost is as follows:

$10 - Medium
$12 - Large
$12 - XLarge
$14 - 2XL
$15 - 3XL

These will be white logo on black t-shirts...If you have a strong preference for an alternate color, let me know.

I'll take commitments in this thread and if/when we have a decent demand, I'll place the order.

I'll update the demand in this post:

(Of course I won't wait for the pics...)

What logo is on the shirt?  The one at the top of the page, or the one in my avatar?

I will probably get a black one, but I would really like a grey shirt with black logo.

I'd like to know what the logo is exactly, but I'm interested.

Black on gray would be sweet.  Black on red would be super sweet.  However, I can live with white on black. :)

It's the logo in your avatar.

What I want is for members to put the size and number of t-shirts you want and to specify a color scheme (if you want something other than white on black).  Once I sort out what everyone wants, we'll see what is feasible color-wise.

Sweet.

I would like one grey shirt with a black logo.  How do the sizes run?  I would like a Medium if they run kinda big or a Large if they run small.  I am 6'0" w/a medium build (about 170 lbs., fairly athletic, SWM, employed... wait, TMI :D ), so sometimes mediums are too small and larges are too big.

I have to stop clicking your links. I thought you were crazy before, now I know you're insane! ;)

And iMav, I'll take a t-shirt as well. Believe it or not, I want a 3X (I love loose shirts) adn I would prefer it in red or green, and I'm not fond of black but if that's what you get I'll still buy one. If you get them in different colors, I might take 2.

I'd love to get an official shirt but I guess shipping to Germany would be quite expensive. Much better to print them at a local shop.  Is there a high resolution or even vector graphics version of the logo available?

This is from the original T-Shirt Thread.  I think this might be sufficient.

Well, I don't have much free time for things like that currently. So, no.  I was thinking about stopping by a local print shop on the way home from work.  Or maybe order online...

There is a higher resolution version of the logo available, but please ask iMav whether it's OK to use. He's got a copy of it, and so do I. (I'm the one that designed it.)

So you're holding the copyright, aren't you?  Bhtooefr, may I kindly ask for your permission to make myself a geekhack t-shirt using your logo? :)

Aaaand I'd be happy if I could get a copy of the hi-res version, too.

Feel free to let others use the tshirt logo.

If you want a tshirt, just post what you want.  We'll worry about shipping stuff later.  (and I won't hold anyone to a commitment if the shipping turns out to be cost prohibitive)

Is there any way I could get the words ('geekhack.org wanna switch') printed in blue or red rather than white? (with the patent diagrams in white)? How customizable is this?

Okay, I'd like one Large (white on black is good).  I guess a single t-shirt could be put in a large envelope, so shipping shouldn't be too much.  Do you accept credit card? :)

Regarding copyright... the switch diagrams are taken from the patents or some other source we don't have the copyright for, so strictly speaking the whole logo is illegal anyway, no?  But thanks for giving your permission, iMav and bthooefr!  What about the hi-res version?

All of the patents in question are expired, and are in the public domain. ;)

And, I believe the diagrams themselves enter the public domain immediately.

As soon as I can find the hi-res version, I'll PM you a link, but shipping for a shirt really isn't much.

It's been a while, but I am now actually pulling the trigger on the shirts.  I will be submitting an order at the end of the week that reflects the demand that is listed on the first post of this thread (plus some extras).  So, if you want in, want to change what you asked for, or wish to officially back out from a t-shirt request, now is the time to speak up.

That really stinks. Sorry to hear about your friend.

As far as a source goes why not use CafePress then you can offer up for sale far more than just a t-shirt. Just for reference here is groklaw's stuff page. I think it would be cool to not only get a t-shirt but a coffee/tea mug as well.

Oh here is the link on how to get it all set up and what the different options are http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/index.aspx?area=learn&page=learn and here is a link that explains how you make money http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/index.aspx?area=intro_money&page=intro_money

Any ways just my 2 cents worth. I've always thought a cafepress site for geekhack would be cool.
