Windows XP EOL

So Windows XP is about to go EOL (again).  Maybe this time for real.

One or two of my older computers would seriously struggle under anything more recent, and I don't have the budget to upgrade hardware.

Every now and again I reinstall Windows.

Does Windows XP EOL mean they will switch off the activation servers too?  All Microsoft support articles I have seen indicate that Windows XP will continue to boot and run, but they don't say anything about new installations.

Anyone heard/read anything about new installations?
