Shiny caps, Black switches, fullsize. One would THINK it wouldn't go for too much, but this is geekhack, so...

Am pretty disgusted actually.

As you said, the keycaps are clearly shiny. The spacebar has shine. It's not just 'used for a couple of days and in like new condition'. It's 'used every damn day for at least a few months and in very used condition'.

I don't know about his earlier auction, but I suspect the first buyer actually returned this keyboard after figuring it wasn't 'like new'.

Would advise everyone to bid wisely. Don't let dubious sellers get their way.

Maybe it should be renamed member auctions/auctions by members only?

Perhaps "Member auction links"?  To make it clear that it's not for actual auctions hosted here.

Hey while we're at it,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coolermaster-Quickfire-TK-/251493740258?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item3a8e31eee2
Thoughts?
Or am I just overstepping with spam

Unless you want to link every keyboard-related listing currently on eBay, it's best to stick with "great finds" that are a particularly good deal or something very unusual.  Each one needs its own new thread with up-to-date information.

Majority of ebay auctions I wouldn't consider to be "great finds", unless it has a nice Buy It now price. People seem to forget that eBay auctions can and almost always will go up in price.

Mechanical keyboards are primarily vessels for novelty keycaps...

I think the "great" in "Great Finds" should not be taken literally.  It's a place to post opportunities to get things.

Maybe we should just change the name to "some type of finds" then.

I would suggest that you not post anything from ebay that people are likely to find anyway (Eg Filco) if they really wanted it.

I also stopped posting in order to avoid having people inflate prices unnecessarily.

I don't know that I agree with that. How do people really know what they want most of the time? That's why advertising is such a big business. See something, and you may consider it. I don't troll eBay for anything, but links posted on this forum have caused me to buy certain things. I was under the understanding that that was the entire purpose of this subforum. If we're going to start reducing certain links like this one, then will we be removing links to CCs? Links to SSKs? We might as well just stop the whole thing altogether.

Really, the problem is here. A link gets posted, and people automatically start inflating prices, instead of waiting to see if they can get a good deal. It started off as a good deal, but quickly went south.

Yeah, people freely admit that if it's something they want that it is left unnamed. Other things that are perhaps more rare or would be difficult to see, or are a bit of a running gag like the mandolin crystals are what gets posted. Like the terminal model M buckling springs that I posted because they would never have come up in any sort of normal search, because they had no normal branding at all on them. Some were bought after I posted about it, after going through at least one listing cycle of nothing happening, probably more.

I don't really think there's a point for stuff like this that's always floating around on ebay. Along with other easily findable things, such as the siig minitouch keyboards which sometimes have monterey blues and sometimes other types of switches.

I think at least some of the bid early bid high is from guests, though.

Edit: So what happened to the fairly simple rule that if someone is selling something on ebay they can just make a regular classifieds post about it and add the link?
