Wow you really bought the Ducky Premier just for the caps!  :p

The price without caps is pretty nice for anyone who wants to use his Tai Hao with the Ducky. Too bad I'm no longer using this layout, or I'd be happy to buy!

There was one on Taobao a while back for somewhere around $500, I can't find it anymore though. No idea if that's a normal price for them but I'd guess not...

Yeah, that's pretty steep, I'm hoping I can find a way to get one without entering poverty.

Thanks for the heads up though, I'll search on TB and see if I can find what you're talking about.

I'll just leave these here...

hey intelli,

I think I should mention here that it is my belief that the original TA Dario 286 keyboard colors were actually the colors you see on TA typewriters like in foxtrott's photo. The darker blue is actually very similar to Olivetti blue which also explains why the blue accent on the 286 case makes it look like an Olivetti case. For some reason, the colors on the 286 doubleshots aged to a beautiful teal while the colors on the case and dyesub typewriter keycaps did not. If you can't find one you should start a buy next year for a GMK TA-Replica set that uses a White Color on their N5 Blue for the mods and their V4 blue on Grey for the alphas.  I would be in for sure! (And so would many others I think.) Now it wouldn't start off looking like the TA caps we all know and love, but if you could artificially age those caps somehow,  I think you would end up with caps that look like the ones you see on the vintage TA 286 boards. Find an old Olivetti G80/1 case, and then you have your TA 286 board. Believe me, I thought this through lol. Aging feng's set would likely not produce the same result. Here is another pic I found on reddit posted by cjhard that shows the unaged underside of the TA keys:

Yes, this seems to be the prevailing wisdom, which is interesting. I wonder why these boards all turned teal while Olivetti G81s did not. I remember reading a post that the TA boards were used by German secret police (?!?) in vehicles, hence they got constantly pounded by sunlight, explaining why no one has ever seen one with the original color. (No idea if there is any truth to that, no source was given, and I was under the impression these keyboards came with mail-order PCs from TA). Anyway, the teal is a wonderful accident. I am open to running a GB although it would definitely have to occur some time after Feng's is finished. Disagree on the specifics though, I would probably ask GMK to price out a custom pantone teal color, not go for blue. That would just be an Olivetti reproduction; no one is going to artificially age caps, not that we even know how...

Good luck, I think you'll need it. Maybe you can find an ANSI one..

I didn't even know they came in ANSI, wow. Not getting my hopes up. Maybe should just put GMK Olivetti in a ****ing solar hot dog cooker.

I can't believe I still have this HHKB. You will never find another like it. Make me a compelling offer on the stuff I have left... I have more cool stuff I am considering putting up, but not until all the current goods are cleared out.

It's not actually a TA, I don't think. It's some really obscure board (the only one that's been found). Nobody really knows what it is. All we know is the caps are the same colour as TA

I forgot about it when I posted the last message, but someone has found an actual ANSI TA board (only one in existence afaik) : http://www.otd.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=album&wr_id=93774&sca=&sfl=wr_name%2C1&stx=qinqin&page=5

Either of the Apple keyboards. I'm basically just looking for any kind of an ALPS keyboard to try out.

They are different switches.

The AEK is 10x less common than the AEK2, in my opinion, especially in top condition, and has the preferable switches.

Also, remember that you need an ADB converter unless you are using a vintage Apple system.

I do know that I'd need a converter. It's a pain they cost so much though.

Is there some reason you prefer the orange switches to the cream ones? I have heard that they are both tactile and not clickey, but not much more.

It's all subjective but I like the oranges more too. They have a really lovely sound and feel less mushy than the dampened cream switches.

Whoever takes the AEK I can also have an iMate and ADB cable for $15 extra, which is about half the eBay price.

So for the AEK with the orange switches I'd be looking at $85 + $58 shipping + $15 for a converter = $158 USD ≈ $180 Canadian. Ouch.

As much as I'm sitting here drooling over the thing, I just don't think I can justify spending that much. Goddamned shipping. Someday I'll get elected Prime Minister of Canada just so I can declare war on the US, immediately surrender, join the union, and thus get rid of international shipping charges. It's a foolproof plan.

I'm so confused why the HHKB is still for sale.

Decided to hang onto them for now. At some point I'll let them go as a set to someone who really wants them. They're too nice to sell at the prices I was getting down to.
