Armed and Dangerous
« on: Wed, 09 April 2014, 20:02:08 »

I've been looking for a carry on bag for my mechs to take from home to work and back.  I found this gem for under $30!  It's a rifle bag and it's almost perfect! :D  It's a tad tall but it can carry pretty my entire arsenal.. err I mean my collection!

Looks like a Model M will fit in there with room to spare.

I've been looking for something with a padded shoulder strap to carry a Model M around.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I don't think that case is big enough for your keyboard.

Ah, the US. Where there are more guns than people. DO bring it to the airport; that's the American way.

If trigger happy security thugs shoot you, well that's also the American way. Only last month they shot an elderly man leaning on his walking stick because they thought it was a gun.

At airports, you just get immediately arrested instead. Maybe also added to no fly list.

One of the most unusual withes I heard about :) Damn thing is too heavy... You really need a rifle bag to carry it around :)

I actually think the model F would fit!  It's got sleeves which I think could house an additional keyboard. (though I've not tried it.  didn't want my keys to get mooshed)

Found this Rothco Tanker Tool Bag on Amazon; used to use it to tote a full-size Model M.
Bag measures 19"x9"x6"; comes in modified OD (from back in the day) or black. The price
is $14.00, which includes shipping (link below).

Looks like Amazon Prime also has the bag (link below).

If you're the correct skin color you can get the NAACP and various other civic organizations to demonstrate about police brutality in your favor. You'll get a multimillion dollar judgment. That's also the American way.

If you're the incorrect religion or have an inappropriate amount of facial hair under an inappropriately large nose, you might also be looking at a stint at a holiday resort in Cuba after they shoot you. That's also the American way.  :p

freedom of speech is supposed to be the American way, but personal experience differs...

what are you talking about?

McCarthy and Bush-Cheney should have taught you all; with the right demagogue getting media attention, Americans will drop their pretences to liberty and the rule of law faster than a prostitute drops her panties. The whole thing about the US constitution is just a thin veneer that works when Americans aren't feeling scared or challenged - one terrorist act and suddenly 'the US constitution is outdated and quaint'. (Pop quiz: tell me who said that. Hint: it isn't Khrushchev.)

To me, American democracy is no more robust than the Chinese Chery QQ car. When put to the test, it shows its flaws. It only works reliably under the best of circumstances. Trust me, the next time there is a terror attack, you guys will be falling all over yourselves to re-open Gitmo and looking for scapegoats to torture.

(CORRECTION: Gitmo isn't closed yet; Obama ordered it closed 6 years ago and it's still got over a hundred inmates. Yeah, great rule of law all right.)

Sth has the right idea.

I remember some pistol cases being used for 60% broads. I also think I remember someone putting a HHKB into a gun sock.
