I always use the 64-bit version of Firefox, but under Linux only.  I've not had any problems with it, so far.

Pray tell, what do you need a 64-bit Firefox for, anyway? 64-bit Windows can run 32-bit stuff, and plugin support will suck on a 64-bit version.

64-bit actually requires more data to be processed than 32-bit, requiring more memory (which can make swapping more likely,) more memory bandwidth, and more processor resources. (Granted, those resources may be wasted by a 32-bit program, but I digress.)

For something which works exclusively with 32-bit data, like a web browser, 32-bit is at the very worst the same speed.

I have to wait for 64-bit firefox to include support for flash (or whatever it is that streaming sites like youtube use). I'm currently running mint linux 64-bit and vista 64 (unfortunately). I'd love for everything to be running at their full potential, but draw the line at inconveniencing myself.

What would be nice is a 64-bit browser for OS X so that Java 6 plugin could be used.  (Java 6 is 64-bit only on OS X)

I've got several web-based administrative consoles that rely heavily on Java 6.  It sucks having to boot up a linux VM just to manage them.

That's stupidity on Apple's part that's responsible for that one... someone really needs to make a shim program that can make a 64-bit plugin run in a 32-bit browser, and vice versa.

32 bit plugins can be run with 64 bit browsers. They just need 32 bit libraries. AFAIK vice versa is impossible.
