Where to buy new USB cable? US
« on: Tue, 06 May 2014, 11:54:15 »
So my USB cable stopped working and I don't know where I should go to order one?  Is there a trusted Ebay seller or store that you guys like?

Edit:  It is a mini usb for CM boards.

What type of cable? mini usb? micro usb? full size?

Do you want a custom cable or just a cheap replacement?

whoops, edited.  It is a mini usb for CM boards.  A custom cable would be nice, but I usually do my own braiding/shrinkwrap.  Just don't know where to get a trustable decent priced wire.

If you're just looking for a cheap cable so you can do some work on it yourself, just buy some from monoprice.com.

Bought a 3 pack of 3 foot mini (not micro) cables off Amazon for like 6 bucks.  Work fine with my ducky shine 2

I don't mind paying a premium for something that I know will last a long time, but if you guys trust the cheaper option I will believe you, haha.

The Monoprice cables are nice and they're cheap. But they're shipping has gone up lately. I'd check those out versus Amazon.

I'm still a noob so to me a cable is a cable.  As long as your not messing with it to much i fail to see how mine will fail.  Maybe they die tonight.

Gold pins on mine, and gold connectors (gold connector doesn't mean JACK though. Still looks nice I guess.  No affect on anything else).

I've only had for a couple weeks.  I'll let you know if they start to suck or if my Elo drops.

It's ok all my $1 ebay cables work just fine to.

I usually make new ones or fix the ones I have. The problem I have with buying a new USB cable is that they're just selling you copper with plastic on it. It's nothing special or crazy in there, it's literally 4 copper wires running end-to-end. If you're technically inclined, I'm sure there's a WalMart near by that sells cheap USB cables.

As for the wire and end cap connectors, I usually get them off amazon or if I'm in the city, I go to Fry's if I don't have spares to Frankenstein.

Wouldn't shipping cost way more than the cable?? :P

It's still less! :p
Plus, my shipping price didn't change, but delivery times got reduced from 4-6 days to 24 hours. :)
