Removing 00 from Numeric keypads
« on: Sat, 10 May 2014, 16:55:28 »
I searched but couldn't find an answer to this. I'm researching mechanical numpads and most have 0 and 00 (double zero). Can buy a 2.0 key cap to span both the 0 and 00?  If I do this I'm assuming I'd need to desolder the 00 switch or maybe use AutoHotKey?
I currently have my eye on something like the Keycool 22 (because I would like backlit).

most keypads I see have a 2x 0...but you could get one of those rose system 2x keys and then disable the 00 key

POS keycaps have double stems like that, you would just have to disable the 00 from working. Here is a shot of a POS two stem 00 key on my Goldtouch keypad. It should work, and lots of crap bag owners have keys that could work, nothing backlit I think though.

And by disable, do you mean mechanically disable it or can it be done via software or firmware?

either remove the pins from the actual pad, or use scripts to disable it
