Very nice.  Now try it with these.  They melt slower due to having less surface area/volume of ice.

Thanks i3oiler.

Thirsty now ...

And it is still early afternoon at work.

That pic would make a nice wallpaper though :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Very nice. Did you do it the layer method, where you keep refreezing each layer?

Very nice.  Now try it with these.  They melt slower due to having less surface area/volume of ice.

I do have the Ice ball mold, I have whisky stones, I have the liquid filled stainless steel cubes/puck

I have found that for my taste the 1in square cube melts the perfect amount of water into my whiskey.

For anyone interested, the trick is not in the water (tried boiling, distilled, letting it sit) but the speed and direction of the freezing.

Or use a pressure pot to get rid of those bubbles

That's impressive, the closest I can get is by using near-boiling reverse osmosis bottled water, then covering it while it freezes. Did it for a party one time, but no one appreciated it :(

I've actually been looking into clear ice lately, I'd love to make some clear whiskey balls, but I don't really have any way of controlling the direction and not all that much control over speed, so I don't think I'll do too much about it.

Clear ice does look really nice though.
