International Typewriters Collectors Convention 2014

Any other keyboard typists have an interest that extends to typewriters?  This guy does.

I'm interested in typewriters, but can't afford the trip across the Atlantic. So, maybe yeah, crickets.

I bought a typo machine recently. Interesting to see the different layouts, mine doesn't have  1 or 0 keys. There are a few layouts with the numbers on a layer, funny how some of us are heading back in that direction.

It would be nice to see pics if you do go in the end.

Yea, most machines made before the 1950's did not have 1 keys.  The lowercase "L" would function as the 1 key.

Less keys=smaller size and less internal working parts.  They could stuff more things in a smaller package.

Anyways, to my knowledge, most typewriters did not include "one" keys until the 1950s.  I think the manufacturers and users did not seem it as a necessity.
