I can't wait to see the next big keycap set group buy by Ivan.  Hopefully it will be something really cool.  It would be really cool to get some type of beige stuff going, but I'm sure whatever it is it will be cool.

For the next set, a proper IC will take place though I will likely press a couple ideas I have. Want to do something new for sure not just basic repro.

Oh god please no. I want a beige set so bad, but I've already bought into 3 group buys in the last 3 months and I would feel so bad about getting another set... but I would anyways.  ;D

Dolch-style sets!  For example, Green-Dolch = white on N7 for mods and white on AE for alphas.  Blue-Dolch = V4 mods + N5 alphas.

Coloured dolch might be hard to complete if the MOQ is still at 250. Lots of people with want different colours.

Didn't history teach us, that ICs don't work for GMK GBs?

You'll have ~30 people furiously discussing options and in the end you still have to persuade the silent minority for the remaining ~220 orders...

Just chose a color combination that you like and that is not too extravagant and start the GB - I trust your taste Ivan  :thumb:

When I say colored-Dolch I just mean white-on-color alphas with white-on-darker-tint mods, so there would be no greys in there.  Perhaps Dolch is a bad term to use.  I might try to mock out something this weekend with N7 and UE just to see if it looks as good as it does in my head or not  :)

Oh, well history has also taught me which to ignore too :p Mostly what I mean is I will select a few things and put them forward to allow for the most popular one to be chose for highest chance of reaching MOQ. I'm not looking to have a suggestion free for all because yes you are correct that doesn't work and is nothing more than futility.

So just call it 2tone sets. Dolch is pretty specific as one colorway in 2tone style.

Maybe you can make slight changes to the sets you offer.

For example I love the symmetric look. I know you swear to the classic look, but adding the "~" and "\" in both color combinations wouldn't cost a fortune.

For me this is the perfect GMK set (minus the novelty caps) - only one big kit:

If I do something like that, it's more likely to be an add on like the color pack here. Just some alternates for some flavor kind of thing.

Thanks for editing my post - at least now I know how to do it next time :)

No, I wasn't refering to the color scheme. I probably didn't express myself good enough.

I just wanted to show how the kit could be structured.

Bunny's GB had everything in one big kit:

- Numpad
- Tsangan
- both versions of the "~" and "\" keys
- ISO

I think this is also the way to go for any GMK Set.

this would cause the set to start at like $150 shipped.
Ivan tried this b4 and didn't reach MOQ because lots of people were turned off the fact they were force to buy a bunch of keys that they wouldn't be using.
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=48798.msg1049244#msg1049244

As majority of buyers are using US ANSI, its hard to make people buy the extra keys in that all in one set.

Bunny's able to offer that sort of all in one because SP's costs are lower than GMK's

I knew what you mean exactly. I'm pretty much going to stick to my guns on the base set so it's more or less unchanging in number of keys and so on so everyone will always know what the price will be out the gate. Other things like alternate color keys or alternate legends and key sizes will go in add ons.

This Dolch GB had everything I listed except both versions of the "~" and "\" keys in the base set.

So we are talking about 2 keys here - I know there are others who also prefer the symmetric look.

But if Ivan plans to include these keys in add on sets next time I am happy. Unfortunately it wasn't an option this time :(

whoops youre right, i totally wiffed on that lol.
I do think this GB reached MOQ because it was dolch.  This is also the first GMK keyboard set that reached MOQ in a GB fashion i think right?
Other ones were Sheraton placing the order himself right?

R4 Caps and R3 Ctrl would be nice to see in a base set, fwiw. I was forced into buying a new, completely different keyboard to use this set on just because the odd mod pack couldn't go.

Yeah in hindsight I should have put the 1.75 C row control in the color pack.

Did that one in Korea for Dolch fullset go? I'm not sure what happened to that when they decided not to offer it to worldwide.

No shame guys, we still had ~3 more days before deadline. There will be more stragglers!!

With anyone else running a Group Buy you get a standard NOTICE and some Warnings about handing over the payment before the Deadline arrives, but I'm afraid Ivan will not pester anyone for money.

Deadline arrives and passes and those that haven't paid get burned and left behind as he heads everything over to the GMK factory to start producing these wonders.  Not Ivan's fault because he is a very quiet individual with no essence of impatience or desperation within himself.

Hence if anyone fails to pay-up then you lot need to wait in the classifieds section for a few years and hope these $300+ key-sets to be sold  ;D .  Considering how rare these will be I can't guarantee that they will be sold anywhere because I shall be hanging onto mine for decades to come.

Interesting board that is. So I guess Cherry went back to GMK to get some caps done. Too bad they don't do that for any other boards these days.

Of course. I've seen several of those on Chinese forum. It seems to be made just for the Chinese market, like those limited edition 1865/1869.

Ivan needs to do Handarbeit, because NO body else is doing it, including Sherryton (lot of talk but no evidence as usual from him).

Hence Ivan should be the FIRST person to initiate this Group Buy which will put it out amongst us addicts as soon as possible.  We definitely need to get this off the ground instead of mincing around here talking about it for the next 3 years on 'maybe' doing it.

Time for Geekhack to finally man-up and put out Handarbeit once and for all  8) .

Ivan needs to do Handarbeit, because NO body else is doing it, including Sherryton (lot of talk but no evidence as usual from him).

The problem with Handarbeit is it's too extravagant. You'll probably get ~50 quick orders after the launch, but I can't imagine to rech MOQ with such a set.

I guess the only chance to ever get such a set is to make two tone GBs that feature those colors, so can you do some mix 'n' match after you finally collected all the colors ;)

I've made a Rowdybeit, which was surprisingly similar to Handarbeit, albeit on an ANSI TKL in contradistinction to the original ISO fullsize.

It was surprisingly easy to use and pleasant on the eyes.

I only removed it recently to put the Granite set on a keyboard to use for a while.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
