[WTB] Cherry plate mount stabilizers
« on: Mon, 02 June 2014, 06:01:29 »
Hello,

I'm looking to change my current Costar stabilizers with Cherry plate mount ones.

Will be needing 2 sets (2 x 5 for each set = 10 stabilizers in total). Hopefully they will have their 2u and 6.5u metal-wires.

Cheers,
Argy

I would try http://imsto.cn/index.php?route=product/product&path=61&product_id=55 in case you do not find someone.
Those are PCB mount, so no.. I wouldn't try that.

What board are you wanting to swap the stabilisers on? Unless it's a custom plate it probably won't support Costar and Cherry stabilisers.

I'm using a Phantom PCB -- More specifically, this one: http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=536.

Don't know if there are any revisions since the original phantom.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that the PCB I have, does not support Cherry PCB-mount stabilizers.

I have a universal plate that (should) support plate mount stabilizers (the one that fits filco, phantom, etc and allows you to remove the top housing of switches for repair).

Yeah, the Phantom doesn't support PCB mount ones like Chunky linked. It will support plate mount ones though. Hope you can find some.

Ah, sorry for misinformation, didn't read the post too carefully. WASDkeyboards has almost all the parts you need, I emailed then about 3 weeks ago about the clips getting back in stock, and they said it should be within a month. So hopefully it will be soon. Keyboard Co still has 2 clips in stock http://www.keyboardco.com/product/2-filco-black-stabilizers.asp, shipping from UK though.

Hopefully this redeems my previous misinformation :-X, good luck.
No, the ones that WASD and KBC sell are Costar plate mount stabilisers. OP wants Cherry plate mount stabilisers.

Do you have a plate that supports Cherry plate mount stabilizers rather than costar ones? The mounts look completely different.

FWIW, the plate design pictured is compatible with PCB mount Cherry stabs and plate mount Costar.  Plate mount Cherry requires a different shape hole (more is cut away).
Try pcb stabs ones anyway?

They will not work because the Phantom PCB does not have holes for them to mount on.

That plate with the Phantom PCB will work with Costar or Cherry plate mount stabilisers. Nothing else.

Ah, read fail for not noticing his using the Phantom PCB.  I had sourced my Cherry plate mounted sets from WFD when he was still posting, and I don't recall where he got them from, but I think he was bending the spacebar wires.  Good luck with mouser http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Cherry-Electrical/0G990224/?qs=%2fha2pyFadui%2ff77L2%2f6q1E9TeTSTHkqalUnHyJbKl9I%3d

Yeah, that was my last resort. So technically, I can buy 10 of them (do they come with 2u wire?) and try bending 2 x 6.5u for spacebar.

I might have some spare - I'll check later.

You'd definitely need to bend a spacebar wire though as they were harvested from a wyse board that had some bizarre 10x or something spacebar.

And I'm in the UK!

Here ya guys go :) http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/CHERRY/0G990224/?qs=%2fha2pyFadujXQEK8%252b8SHJaAjoyTWqs285oZXp8X1spURK93nz3kq7w%3d%3d

My bad, didn't realize this was already mentioned.  I've got some extras (but no spacebar) if you guys for some reason don't want to buy off mouser.

I guess I'll probably end up going for mouser after all... Need to watch some videos on how to make that spacebar wire :P
