Greetings to all, Thanks for having me ;-)
« on: Sat, 07 June 2014, 04:24:47 »
Hi Al ,

My name is Sam and live in Holland (Netherlands).

i'm A techie, that is to say i love well build / well thought out hardware/software.
14yr in the IT as a AIX admin, and now switching to Linux  :D
As OS user i like osx purely because it gives me the use and freedom of a command line with which I am familiar.
I switched from Linux desktop to OSX just because of the driver problems (in the old days).

The reason why i'm looking to the world of mechanical keyboards is simple..
I asked myself "how manny hours do you spend behind a keyboard?" the answer is an average of at least 8 hours a day.
And sometime i feel sum pain in my tendons.

Around the time i stared in IT we had those old IBM keyboards hooked up to terminals..
i always loved the feeling of typing on them..But the noise was a bit to much to swap one for on the office floor  ;D

A couple of years ago i got a mac-mini and a wireless keyboard..
The problem with that was that it had a small left shift key "us international" i think..
Now i'm typing on an old Microsoft ergo 4000..
i don't like the rubber dome feeling..

So i went looking for a solution..
And thought i had found it by getting the "Truly Ergonomic" keyboard from a EU seller "get digital.eu".
The price was hefty but i thought "the hell with it"!!  :p

After a week passed i noticed i got a bit used to the key layout but i was still making a lot of mistakes..
The switch of key layout was a bit to radical for my i guess.
Switching back and forth was also a pain..Trying to type my password on a normal ansi us layout laptop keyboard became difficult hahahah.

So i returned it and i'm now looking for a new solution..
I love the "Poker 2" with thick pbt caps..
But i love the layout of the "Leopold F660C" better..But i don't yet know what the vallue of the
Topre Electrostatic Capcitive Systems realy means..

It seems that getting the Poker 2 in Holland / EU is more difficult than i believed it to be..
The only reseller that i know of is "mechanicalkeyboards.nl" And he only has one left with red switches.
And i want brown ones.

The reseller i know seems to be a Ducky man, heaving also the new "Ducky Premier DK9008P Green-White keycaps"
it's a shame that it is not the TKL model!!

So now i'm thinking about WASD and there TKL 87key model.
"third model in their gallery. With all the colors and layout mac"

It will probably cost me double what people pay in the US ..Meaning i swap the $ sign for € ..pfff
I get the feeling that WASD is better quality than Ducky??
But as a newbie i'm not 100% sure..

i saw the LigtSaver V2 here and it looks great..
Exactly the right layout and not to big..
Big shift key's for typing "|" and "{}"

But the price is way way to high for me..almost $400 with assembly  :p :p

pffff the journey to keyboard Walhalla is not an easy one..

One last thought is getting both a TKL model with nice mac os prints and colours.
And trying to find a Poker 2 model ;-)

I wish you all the best..
Take care all..
Live Long And Prosper  :)
