Anyone can help me to identify this Model M?
« on: Sun, 15 June 2014, 20:49:27 »
Hi, i recently bought a new, Spanish layout, Model M 122 keys terminal keyboard.

I search everywhere and can't find information about the part number printed in the back label.

The person who sold me this have more, in the same condition, and at very good price, so I wonder if I should buy another one.

I will make a Soarer's converter, my teensy arrive on the mail this week.

Here are some pictures

PD. sorry for my english

Maybe its a bootleg?

Looks real and very nice. I am surprised that it does not say "Made in ..... " near the bottom of the label.

If the price really is good, you may be able to re-sell them for a profit. Unlike some members, I do not think that there is anything wrong with that.

They are more difficult to obtain outside the US, but I would take "a good price" to mean under $30.

Interesting. I've never seen a 122-key terminal board in its original styrofoam packaging with plastic cover.

I'd be curious to know what he paid.

One thing that seems a bit odd is the way the letter M (in Model M) seems etched into the laminate. The lines don't seem straight, as if someone wrote it in, but maybe that's a trick of the light in the image.

The exactly price i've paid is the equivalent of $29 (american dollars)

I take better picture of the label, I'll post in a minute with more details.

Is this the very same board?

Well, I have to say it looks really great. If you only paid the equivalent of $29 US dollars, then you should buy more and sell them. It looks brand new.

Great buy. Pity it's not Model F, but hey - you can't buy one for 29 dollars anymore :)

Absolutely worth it.
Excellent (new?) condition?
Very early date.
Serial number of 50! Very low!!
"stepped" modifiers.
Case is partly compatible with model F.
Great find for sure.

no market here for these things.

next week I will pick other terminal, 101 key, Model M, made in 1993, which according to the seller is in excellent condition equivalent to 8 U.S. dollars.

here is the link:

IBM has imported a lot of these keyboards to Argentina, and we are very few enthusiasts we are interested in them

That's the cleanest, shiniest bottom label I have ever seen!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hmm, my guess is that the spanish layout is what makes the part number hard to find.
