Tutorial to change poker II plate
« on: Thu, 10 July 2014, 07:09:05 »
Hi. Is there any tutorial to change poker II plate with aluminium plate? Disassembling switches etc.. What do I have to do? Do I have to completely unsolder all the switches?

1) Remove the keycaps to find the screws holding the PCB in place
2) Remove screws
3) Remove PCB/Plate, it will look like this

4) Desolder all the switches and LEDs, the soldered switch looks like this

5) When all the switches are desoldered, you can remove the switches and then the plate will be freed
6) To reasssemble, follow this in reverse

Is there a reason why you want to change the plate? Just curious.

If it has LED's you need to desolder them also.

Lots of work, but if you're changing the switches at the same time or installing LED's it could be justified.

Be aware that the IMSTO aluminium plate will only work if you can figure out how to mount the stabilisers. Plate mount stabilisers don't fit and the Poker 2 PCB doesn't accept PCB mount stabilisers.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.
