Need help to find a KBC Poker X [Found a Pure!]
« on: Thu, 10 July 2014, 22:34:00 »
Update: Thanks to @Oobly I now have a KBT in my hand (and am using it right now to type this post!). It's a Pure with Red Switches. Think I'm going to create another post talking about my initial thoughts about this great little keyboard. Once again thank you everyone for advice and offer!

---

Hi there I'm new to mechanical keyboards and this community. Please pardon me for making a WTB-like post here as I can't post in the marketplace sub-forum nor read posts that are either removed or is off-limit to my account currently.

So long story short I recently got myself a CM QuickFire Rapid and am enjoying using it a lot. And it got me started to look for a 60%. My main criteria is I need to have access to cursor keys at the right side, be they dedicated ones like KBT Pure Pro, or Fn-level like V60 mini.

It turns out that KBC Poker X (Poker I?) is the best for me as those cursor keys are at the right bottom corner. However, it seems to be out of production (replaced by Poker II?) and I can't find it anywhere. If there is a place carrying it (and ships to Canada) please let me know.

I'm fine with a pre-owned one as long as it's fully functional, but as I mentioned I can't post in the marketplace.

I also read about a vendor called Patrick's Place selling a few of those, and seems he is under the username p.s. There used to be a vendor forum of it but I can't find it anymore. If anyone knows a way to contact him please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your help!

All you need to do is make 25 posts and be here for 2 months. You could probably wait that long...
If not, maybe someone here can hook you up with an offer.

Right I'll probably do that once I've reached that and still haven't found one :)

In the meantime I'll just rely on this post while keeping an eye on any WTS in the marketplace.

Intelli78 is selling one, but it's heavily modded. Might be out of your price range ($350) but for everything you get with it, it's a good deal.

Yes it looks great indeed. It's also above my budget so will have to pass. I'll settle for a non-modded one (just saw one sold for less than $100 earlier this year...). Thanks for the pointer though!

The Pure can toggle the right hand modifiers into arrow keys

They're not being made any more and it seems there are only Red switch versions in the few places that still have stock.

Thanks Oobly! I was of course searching on Ebay for some time but this never showed up. Great that you posted it here.

And I've just bought it :D Will let you all know about my thoughts on this once it arrives. It should be a fun experience as I'm currently using brown switches and am getting used to it (the Pure is red).

Regarding to the "toggle" you mentioned, were you referring to the SW0 mode?

I've got a poker I with blacks sitting in my closest if you're interested. I don't use it anymore, but I don't think I can technically offer it in this thread.

Yes, that's what he was talking about. I loved my Pure when I had it, and the only reason I got rid of it was because I wanted to move to Topre switches. They're a wonderful board, and the function/toggle layers are amazingly well done. Hope you like it!

Thanks Mainian for the offer. Yes I should also have also posted my request elsewhere but just I don't have the right to do so yet. My apologies to the moderators here. But I'm thankful to get some replies quickly. As you might have read I've just bid a Pure (last one!) in Ebay so I probably wouldn't need another one for now. But feel free to PM me your offer as I might have convinced my colleagues to get one.

I'm also interested in knowing more about the difference between Poker I (is it in fact Poker X?) and Pure. Some say Pure is a continuation of Poker I with some changes in the layout (e.g. L-shift split into two keys), but there might be something I missed.

Sounds good. A friend of mine has also switched from Cherry to Torpre switches (capacitive?). I guess I'll settle with what I have for now.

Are there any tips & tricks with Pure that I can try out?
