« on: Wed, 30 July 2014, 19:15:21 »

saw an ad on Craigslist.  Trying to confirm if this is a das mechanical keyboard or not.  Does Das even make non mechanical keyboards?

Das has always been known for their mechboards. That looks like one of their mech boards.
They're not bad in quality either, definitely something to consider if you don't mind glossy finishes.

EDIT: reread, yes this is mechanical.

That appears to be a Mac Edition Das Keyboard.  And yes it's mechanical with MX Blue.

Does Das even make non mechanical keyboards?

If I remember correctly, the first generation daskeyboard was a rubber dome. All generations since then have been mechanical. Pictured is a third generation.

The DAS I was a keytronic. They went mechanical when they switched to cherry for the DAS II.

That looks like a DAS 3 as others have said. The quality wasn't that great on the 3's, but it's a mechanical board.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

I thought the das keyboards didn't have any lettering on their key caps.

The pro model didn't have any lettering but they made ones that did have it. I have this same model Das Keyboard with MX Browns, first mechanical keyboard I got. It's not bad and depending on the price it's listed for in CL (and if you don't mind a glossy finish), it's worth it.

They added some models with legends (with the DAS 3 I believe) so they could sell to a broader market.

Are you by any chance a student? I got my brand new Das 3 Ultimate for $110 on their website. A 20% student discount is quite substantial in my book.

Yep, I think they still offer both. The one in the OP's picture isn't super old --- mine is so old there's no media keys.

Well thx for all of the replies, however I was just browsing the internet and stumbled upon that picture so its not from the seller.   Little bummed but if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.
