Question on old cherry caps
« on: Thu, 31 July 2014, 11:16:10 »
I'm looking at picking up two Cherry G80-11900's to harvest the switches and keycaps for.

I really like the look of the sharp square edges on the keycaps.

My question is I'm wanting to put the caps on my PokerX, and the Cherry board has a stepped caps lock, are they typically center stemed or are they off set? If its centered, perfect, if not, i'm probably going to have a hard time finding a caps loc key that matches the set.

Obviously the mod keys won't fit for this board, so I'll have to pick up a RGB set.

If you need a center stepped cap you could order it from here:

If you just need a center stemmed cap, you can order one here:

Or put a WTB out in the Classifieds and people have them.   The bottom row may be a problem depending on size of the Poker X.   But there are plenty of options for the bottom row as well.   RGB or CMY or Purple GMK sets are just a few off the options.

No Cherry stepped caps lock do NOT have the stem in the center of the width. It is a 1.25 key with a spacer on the right. If you want matching 1.25 mods and fulltouch caps lock then you should grab an 8113, 8200 instead.
11900 also have home row profile for the entire function and nav keys on the top portion which may be undesirable on other keyboards.

Well, its actually possible to modify the stem from off centered to centered or the other way around... Requires some patience though.
