I finally stopped lurking!
« on: Sun, 03 August 2014, 13:27:41 »
I'm definitely a geek and maybe even a hacker to an extent. I finally made an account. I'm trying to get a gaming setup going as of late since I found out my laptop could handle it pretty well actually. Other than geeking out over computer stuff, I also have an Xbox, watch Twitch, own a skateboard and a longboard, and love the Seahawks. Feel free to call me an idiot when I act like one.

Now, a question regarding Cherry MX Blues, if I may. How does the feel of the standard Cherry MX Blue switch compare to the "Razer Green" modified switch? I've only been able to try the Razer model and I was thinking of buying a Ducky if I can just decide on a backlight color.

Skateboards! Other than your obvious predisposition for grunge, welcome.

As far as I can tell, there is no reason to get a Razer keyboard over something like a Ducky.

No way I was buying the Razer. I just walked into Walmart to try the keys since there's a cutout for the arrows. It was all I could think of that was similar to a Blue. I don't even know what I'd do with macro keys and I'm more of a TKL person.

Welcome to Geekhack!

MX blues are closest to Razer greens (albeit 5g lighter).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
