Anyone ever used KB Paradise?
« on: Sat, 09 August 2014, 20:50:47 »
I LOVE Cherry X Whites, but I have never used, or saw a KB paradise board in person.  Are they any good ? Lets say compared to a Ducky or Filco.

They have these in stock: http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=895 is why I am asking .

Also, How is it typing on one of these mini boards? I have never used anything less than TKL.

Pardon my ignorance.... I'm new here.

I've heard some good things about that keyboard, but I think it had some firmware issues in the first versions.

Mmkay, well my clicking finger is ready to click buy..... It is REALLY hard to find keyboards with whites and this one just poped up today. I really just want this board because of the switches.

Meh, whites are probably the worst MX switch anyway.

They have SERIOUS inconsistency problems, and they've been known to die more quickly than other clicky switches.

You could always just get blues and lube them, which gets you a similar feel/sound to whites, at a manageable switch weight.

Hmm, well I was going into this as an oblivious fool. I used MX whites once and loved them. My current board has blues on them, but they seem to light for me... I have considered greens.  I planned on getting this board for my main until I move into my apartment, then get a full size topre. I have VERY limited desk space atm.

How is the quality on the HhKB ? Let's say compared to a nice FIlco? How is it typing on a 60% compared to a tkl?

Recently got a HHKB. I consider myself able to adapt easily to various layouts (I consistently switch between TKL, 75%, and 60% layouts because I can never pick a single keyboard to stick with), and this was the hardest one to adapt to because of the unique control and backspace and a few other things.

One particularly striking thing about typing on 60%'s vs TKL is how much more desk space you hget with the 60%. It's almost like I got a new desk.

Quality of HHKB is decent - it's all plastic, but it oesn't feel like it's going to be breaking anytime soon. The case is very nicely put together and easy to disassemble, and the PCB is screwed into the case/plate by 17 screws that are all nice quality and fit well.

Whites would probably be my favorite cherry switch if they weren't so horrendously inconsistent. When I bought a bunch of them to put in my Poker, over 1/3 of them had pretty much no click, and the remaining ones had varying degrees of tactility ranging from slightly more than an MX brown to about the same level as an MX blue. Granted, this was about a year ago, but I don't believe Cherry has made any great changes to the manufacturing process in that time. You'd need to buy like 3x the amount of switches you actually need to be able to sort through them and make a board that doesn't feel like crap.
