Need Help: Left-hand of Ergodox is not working. HD pics.
« on: Sun, 10 August 2014, 11:28:05 »
I assembled my Ergodox(from Massdrop) yesterday and I found that my Left-Hand didn't work. (Right-Hand working perfect)

I am not a hardware guy so I don't know how to identify the problem.

I think it could be a TRSS connection problem so that I desoldered both TRSS and switch the position of them. It is still not working after all.

I have take some pictures. Is there something wrong with my soldering? What could be the problem? Is there any way I can identify the problem?

Thanks for all your help!!

Looks like the MCP23018 is soldered in the wrong way round, the notched side of the chip needs to point towards the TRS connector. The easiest way to fix this is if you can source a replacement chip -- cut the old chip off (clip the pins close to the body), heat each pad, pull the pin and clean the hole w/ a sucker. Then solder in the new chip.
Currently using: RK-9000WH/GR, CMS QFXT w/ Ghost Squid

I found this error after I post this topic. I find it is very hard to unplot a multiple pins chip. I have order a MCP23018 from your link. Thanks for your help!!!
