Fast Finger Keyboard - #5 Dumbest Tech Product
« on: Wed, 10 June 2009, 19:43:09 »
http://www.pcworld.com/article/165546-7/the_10_dumbest_tech_products_so_far.html

PC World named the Fast Finger Keyboard the fifth dumbest tech product. It appears to be a Scissor-Switch board in the ABC layout. You can restore the QWERTY layout by pressing the "ABC" button, but it also changes your function keys to idiotic acronyms like "BRB" and "CYA."

I'm fairly certain PC World got this one right.
Keyboards: FKBN87MC/NPEK, Dell AT101W (Black), IBM Model M 1391401 (91) x 2, Deck 82 Fire, Cherry MX8100 (Clears), Siig Minitouch
Layouts: Colemak (100WPM), QWERTY (100WPM) -- Alternative Layouts Review

What doesn't make sense is that if you're going to program a key to type out brb, why not just make it type "be right back"?

I wonder if they have a lol key that repeats as an ol key. Then you can just mash it down and see that lol grow.

At least it makes the function keys do something somewhat worthwhile. roflol  BTW It's got a standard or qwerty layout too?  How much does it cost?  I need to get one ASAP.  CYA. hehe

It's only $22, not bad.  Especially considering I've never seen a standard/qwerty switchable keyboard before...

I often maintain that the alphabet should be rearranged in QWERTY order, the current one is far too arbitrary :p

It always comes down to "who decides?" I mean really, who got to decide what Alphabetical order means?
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.

Featured again by Gizmodo.

This keyboard sure is getting a whole lot of attention. I wonder if the designers even took it seriously.

I think their goal was to make a product so bizarre that all its marketing could be the achieved through articles pointing out how bizarre it is.

A solid plan.
