[WTB] Blue Alps Keyboard or two
« on: Tue, 19 August 2014, 23:22:55 »
Hello all,

Looking to buy a Blue Alps Keyboard or two.  Please PM me if you have any that you would be willing to part with.  Price will depend on model and condition.  They don't need to be tested necessarily and if a few switches don't work or some keycaps are missing, I'd probably still be interested.  Mainly want to try such a keyboard out in person.  There's only so much that reading a description of the feel can tell me.

I'd also be interested in any extra switches if you have some so maybe I can make a complete board out of a spares purchased here and there.

Thanks!

Do you have a target price? There are a few on ebay right now.

You just missed this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/281368495090?orig_cvip=true
But there’s still bidding on this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/251619366736
And here’s a whole computer for $110 BIN http://www.ebay.com/itm/281407784585 (though it would be at least a bit sad to buy that just for the keyswitches and throw the computer away)

I spent 2 years watching ebay for Leading Edge 2014 keyboards, one of the few "sure thing" blue Alps donors, and they were very rare. Months would go by between appearances, and when I finally got a couple of them, they were nasty, worn, and yellow.

In recent weeks and months, not only have a surprising number of them suddenly turned up, but they are in beautiful condition as well!

Obviously, these are sour grapes and I am jelly. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the links! I had seen that one auction for the two keyboards together a while back, but had no idea that the Jameco one had blues in it.  Looked pretty generic to me.

There are a couple others on ebay that I was thinking might have them, but a lot of sellers aren't willing to take off a keycap to find out because they think they will break the keyboard or something.

Figured if someone here has some parts boards that either didn't work or a complete board that they wanted to sell, this would be the place to inquire!

Also forgot to mention, I wouldn't be opposed to buying a higher end modded/custom keyboard like a Kingsaver or Northgate with Blue Alps.  As long as the price is fair for the specific board, I'm willing to consider anything including more expensive ones.
