Howdy!
« on: Sat, 06 September 2014, 20:48:12 »
Hello GeekHack!
As I CRTL+A then back space almost four times now, hopefully I'll get it right this time! My name is Dereck Barnes. I'm a twenty one year old truck driver from Troy, TN. I've worked in everything in my area except fast food.. (so far!). I'm engaged to another Mechanical Keyboard enthusiast (Ducky Shine 3 w/ Magenta LED's, Brown Switches). And we live a pretty normal life in West, TN.
I've found my love for Mechanical Keyboards almost five-six years ago when I first typed on a Razer Black Widow Ultimate. After going through two of those due to faults or errors, I moved on to Cooler Master (CM STORM QUICKFIRE PRO TK, Red Switches), Corsair (K70 Vengeance, Red Switches), Ducky (Ducky Shine 3, Brown Switches), and my current Ducky Shine Zero with Blue Switches. Granted, I do not know NEAR as much as some of these guys on this forum, and I am happy to be apart of a forum that, from what I've read so far, are very helpful and really take pride in their keyboards. I treat my keyboard like my truck; Keep it clean on a daily basis, don't eat while operating, and keep it maintained after rough use.
I hope to learn more about customization options, how to change LED's, and also how to work on some of these boards.

  Thank you for having me!
-Dereck Barnes.

edit: Would also like to thank Justin at mechanicalkeyboards.com for introducing me to the forum! You were a great help and me and my fiance thank you deeply!

Welcome! Paying a small amount of attention here will net you a great amount of information, and if you ever have any questions, all you have to do is ask. So many members here are willing to divulge information they may have at the drop of a dime. Good luck.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Actually someone recently suggested we have a truck of the month competition.

At least something like that - I wasn't paying that much attention at the time ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
