ErgoDox - Slow Response Issue on TMK Firmware - Looking for Help
« on: Mon, 08 September 2014, 19:31:14 »
Hi there,

I'm having an issue with my ErgoDox and I'm kind of flabbergasted.

I've been using the TMK firmware with n-key roll over for a while now, about 3 months. I've used the ErgoDox for about 8 months. Love the thing.

Anyways, I was typing along when suddenly it started responding *very* slowly, I'd say about 1 poll every 500ms. I fiddled around with it, and determined that this only occurred when both sides of the board were plugged in. If I only had the right side, it worked perfectly.

I've tried using different USB and TRRS cables, same issue. I tried benblazak's firmware, and that worked fine again, but lacked the n-key rollover. I went back to TMK, tried updating it, tried downgrading it, nothing.

It's just odd to me that what worked for so long suddenly stopped working. My impressions are that perhaps my Teensy is damaged or there is static build-up, causing it to slow down. And the TMK firmware being heavier on the Teensy than the benblazak firmware, slows it down enough when there are two hands to make the keyboard near unusable.

Does anyone have any advice on how I could continue troubleshooting this issue?

Review:
- Worked for months
- Started going slow, 500ms per key, at least, but only when BOTH hands are plugged in.
- Benblazak's firmware is fine, TMK is causing problems, but it's also much heavier so that makes sense.
- Bonus: Seems my USB connector is loose, but when it D/C's I obviously lose connection altogether.

Cheers.

EDIT: I just tested every key and they are all working. But of course at a very slow rate!
