Hi all,

i'm testing out a Truly ergonomic Keyboard. Unfortunately I'm not bright enough to get the "german letters" (like "ü") on there place in the online configurator:

https://www.trulyergonomic.com/store/layout-designer--configurator--reprogrammable--truly-ergonomic-mechanical-keyboard/
you need to click on the right top on: "go to designer" ist not possible to directly link the configurator

The task is now to get the letter "ü" to right next of p.

Hope someone knows how to do this....

That layout designer doesn't support non-English characters. I tried copying and pasting from Character Map, but it disappears as soon as you move away from the key, so it seems to be invalidating it due it not being a recognised valid character.

If you're using Windows, you can simply switch character layouts in Windows and the characters will be mapped how they are from a normal ANSI keyboard to the relevant characters of your language.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

The site is validating the key legends. Try setting a key to 2# — it wipes it, as there is no "2#" key on a US keyboard. Type 2 and it converts to 2@ (since 2 can only be paired with @ in their minds), while typing / gives you /? as that is the only way / can appear on their keyboard.

You physically cannot enter any key they don't recognise.

If you want an international key, you would have to configure the layout with whichever key corresponds to the same position on a US keyboard.

Yes i found this out yesterday later too. Due to Windows remapping all the keys are actually now in the right place. This has led me to some thinking. So my theory is now there are to layers that tell the computer what a certain Key ond the board will mean:

1. The firmware of the keyboard sends for example [ if i press the button right to the P on an Keyboard with "american" firmware
2. Windows receives this takes a look in the "german" remapping table and says: oh "[" should be "ü" for germany and converts it

Right?

So if i put [{ to another key with this configurator, then windows would still (german language) print a "Ü"  - right?
Moving keys like Shift, Space and delete will not be alternated by the windows language setting right?

I can not check this out right now, since you can only update the firmware of the Truly natural via USB 2.0 my computer has only 3.0 so i would need to go to friends house, which i will but when im finished redesigning..

Yup, if you assign "[" to a different key, such as the key with letter "J" printed on it, then when you press that key the keyboard will send the code for "[" to the computer and Windows will replace it with "Ü".
