Hello Folks!
« on: Fri, 03 October 2014, 11:40:28 »
Hi folks.
Sad to say im brand new to the site and haven't been lurking in the shadows for a while.  To expand upon that i had no idea that such a community of enthusiasts existed in this specific niche sector or hobbies.  So far i am amazed by the customization and broad scope of keyboards and accessories available and hope to verse myself and start a few projects/ acquire another keyboard or 10. Glad to be here and look forward to learning and discussing with seasoned Mech KB vets.

Welcome to GH!

A good place to start exploring would be the Simple Questions, Simple Answers thread.  There's a lot of info in the FAQ.  It's also the go to place to pop a quick question and get a quick answer.

Enjoy your stay and happy keyboarding! :thumb:

Welcome to Geekhack!

It can be a bit of a shock to find out how much keyboard-related stuff is really out there.  Try not to spend all your money at once :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

@Rowdy, Thanks. a shock is an understatement.  and dont worry i already spent all my money on keyboard stuff so now i can't spend all my money at once. Gotta stay one step ahead ya know.

@esoo. So far i love this board immensly. I upgraded from a Logitech g19s to this and its like night and day. I do think i went a little lightwith the MX red's but i am a gamer first and foremost and the response is unreal. As far as considering more. I am already working on and designing a custom keycap set for this board to comeplete my tower/peripheral custom theme.  After that i want to get a TKL either a Poker 2 or try a Filco Mejestouch-2 TKL with Blues

Another SoCal member. Nice. Welcome to the site. I started with reds as well but found they were too light,  too. Ended up moving to blacks which were slightly too heavy and finally settled on some modded blacks that are just right.

Orange County CA born and raised

I havent had the opportunity to try blacks for any length of time. I have a feeling i will end up using blues or greens. For now id be happy to just fine an led compatible set of keycaps that are side printed
