OTD 360c
« on: Wed, 08 October 2014, 11:32:13 »
WARNING : LOTS OF IMAGES

360corsa or 360c for short, the newest kit from the famous line of Korean customs produced by the OTD.kr community.

I got this a while ago, but it's taken forever to get it working because of the PITA controller programming. Thanks for the fix margo ;)

This is a lovely board to build, a lovely board to type on, and a lovely board to look at. Highly recommended if you can get your hands on one.

Hope you enjoy the pics. Keycaps are Cherry dyesubs from G81-3116SDU. Windowed locks are G80-1191H*U. Switches are 62g Skidata clears with Nixdorf tops.

Lots more pics in higher resolution here

My dream board right here, so jelly, maybe one day

Not sure if it would be frowned upon but if I ever got my hands on one of them I would love to reannodize it black.

Very nice!

I like the little touches, like how there is a cutout in the plate for the chip :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That one's a lifesaver.. I had to remove the controller. If it weren't for that it would've been an entire desoldering job.

What does 360c stand for?

360 corsa

and the 360 part comes from?

seems to just be the way OTD name their keyboards, 356, 456, 360, etc. I don't think it means anything special

Oh I googled 360 Corsa and got pics of a red Ferrari.

Great minds think alike :))

What does 360c stand for?
The creator, eungsam, is a car nut. The models are named after classic cars. Porsche 356, Ferrari 456GT, Ferrari 360. Corsa comes from rossa corsa paint I think? Hope this helps.

Well, I likes them 360c keyboards, but I dunno about using Ferrari models for names.  Seems a bit unoriginal.  I woulda called it something like the "un1c0rn.1338" (1338 is one better than 'leet).    And I woulda had a cool logo, like this:

They are from old cherry keyboards, not entirely sure which board to be exact.

That wasn't really my point responding to this though, I wanted to ask another question related to yours.

Where do I get a black cable for one of these? Also, is it possible to make a custom cable?

The cable is from G81-3004LANCH. You can get similar cables from lots of different Cherry boards though.

How much should I be paying for an 8200? I'd go by ebay prices but they never seem accurate on old boards.  :p

DIN. It's just a larger version of PS2, can be converted with a passive converter.
