I have a Corsair K70 with cherry mx reds, Ducky Shine 3 TKL with cherry mx blues, had a Filco Majestouch Ninja with browns that I loved but died on me so I no longer own it. looking forward to reading the posts and getting to know more.

Welcome to GH! It's a pity the Filco died, I own the exact same model and it's still running fine. Did the controller died?

Also, which board do you like the best so far? Tell us what's next in your board acquisition!

My fav is probably the K70 but using the Ducky because its tenkeyless and takes up less space. I really miss the Filco though it was just a tank I think I just got a bad one because it only lasted a month and Filco usually has a good rep. I think If I get another board it will be one of those camo Filcos and I'll put stealth key caps on. The camo and blacked out keys would just look awesome. I want to try some more switches but not those samplers I want to try them on actual keyboards. want to check out the greens, blacks and clears. tried reds, blues , browns and Topre. I think I like the blues the best so far. I don't understand the whole reds are not good for typing because I typed just fine on them. too me its just muscle memory. oh and I wanna try some buckling springs too.

Welcome to geekhack! Glad I found another guy who has tried the all 3 of the most common switches.
I am currently stuck in a dilemma. Currently have the Blues and the Reds. Happy with both of them but then I don't know whether I should get the Browns or not as I already have one tactile clicky switch and a linear switch so I feel like the Brown is redundant. I have tried them at the store though so I know how they feel but not over a long term period of time. How did your Filco with browns compare to your ducky and corsair (talking about switches)

It really all comes down to personal preference. I was not fond of Reds, but I like browns and blacks. It was just the combo of light springs and linear that I  couldn't stand. And Buckling Springs are awesome!

Welcome to Geekhack. Is there a reason you prefer the K70 over the Ducky and Filco?

I like the aluminum top plate and the metal volume scroll wheel is super useful when some super loud part comes on I dont have to reach over to my reciever to turn the volume down. the raised keycaps make for super comfortable typing imo and I really like the textured space bar on it, the super thick braided cable with the usb passthrough is also a nice addition. the k70 is just a really nice board imo. looks really awesome too even without the leds on. I usually don't use leds even if I have them I like that simple plain black look. only thing I dont like on the k70 is the keycap finish if that's what you call it. they are pretty glossy and when my fingers get kinda sweaty the sweat just kinda hangs on the keycaps and I have to constantly wipe them down at least once a day if I am gaming. I am eventually going to change them out for some blacked out keys without that glossy texture. most people don't have a problem with it my fingers just get really sweaty for some reason. If I get a bigger desk down the line I may go back to the k70 as my main board but for now its the ducky. I have a XL mouse mat because I use very low dpi 400 dpi 100% of the time so i need a pretty large mat that takes up a lot of space and I dont like my keyboard too far to the left of me when I type so that's why I am using the tenkeyless as my main board.

When I tried out the K70 it had a sort of rubberized finish on the keycaps. Stock ABS tends to wear fast, hence the shine you're getting. I hear the keycaps on the K70 aren't so easily replaced because of the non-standard layout on the bottom row.

If you still have the FPS WASD/1-6 Keycaps and aren't using 'em, care to share? xD

Mine have been shiny since day 1 they always had a gloss to them and there is no wear on any of them whatsoever and they all look the same they just keep sweat on them easier than some keycaps but most people don't have the crazy sweaty fingers I do. I already gave away the textured wasd and 1-6 keys otherwise I would have sent them to you. haha. I kinda liked those but they just didn't feel good when typing because they are higher than the other keys so it kinda feels weird typing on them. how can you tell what caps are PBT and what are ABS? I saw somewhere that PBT will sink in a glass of water and ABS will float but not sure if that is true. I haven't had this Ducky long and I am really starting to like it a lot more and more each day so I may end up liking it more than the k70 once I get fully use to it. I usually dont judge fully on keyboards or mice till ive had them for at least 2 weeks unless it just plain sucks. haha

What happened to the Filco?   They are usually high quality and should last for years.

If it broke after one month it should still have been under warranty.

Did you keep it?  Throw it out ?  If you don't want to repair it, you could sell it for parts!

I got a refund because they didn't have anymore in stock. was trying to find one before buying the ducky but everyone is out of them and those who do have them price gouge the hell out of them. I placed an order for a Max Keyboard Blackbird but then mechanicalkeyboards.com cancelled my order and said they where out of stock even though the site said they had plenty. I the just went for the Ducky Shine 3.

I think if I could do it over again I would have got different switches on the Filco like blues or something. I think browns are my least fav switch so far but I still do like them and the keycaps felt really good on the filco I mean if browns are all thats available I wouldnt hesitate but I do like the blues better because they are to me the perfect amount of stiffness and I don't think they are really that loud. I tried a board with Khaile Blue switches which are Chinese knock off of cherry mx blues and they where a lot louder also closer to reds in stiffness they really didn't have much stiffness at all.

Kailh switches louder than blues?  Interesting.  I don't recall anyone mentioning that aspect of them before.

Yeah the ones I tried were a lot louder than the cherry mx blues on my shine 3.

Although that could be influenced by various factors - including type and thickness of the desk surface the keyboard was resting on, the thickness of the plate in the keyboard, keycap material and so on.
