It shipped the next day after I placed my order. I guess it was in stock at the time I placed the order (last week).

I think they make them in batches. If they are sold out, they have to backorder your order until another batch is ready.

My room isn't that clean, I just don't show the messiness in the video. Just to the left, off camera, there is literally a pile of dirty clothes (:

do you plan to put blank keys on that? My model M should be arriving today and I can't wait to see what condition it's gonna be and possibly shove some blank keys on it.

I think you can order it from Unicomp with blank keys if you want. I don't do blank keys myself though.

Aside from the extra-sturdiness of the Customizer, is there any difference in the feel of the keys compared from the Spacesaver to the Customizer.

Also, out of the three, which is your favourite?

The Customizer is not more sturdy, it's just got a larger casing. The keys feel totally identical to me and the row angles are also the same.  I would even say the casing on the SpaceSaver feels a bit sturdier as it doesn't seem to flex as easily.

If you are talking the original IBM Model M, that's still the sturdiest of them all though.

Yeah, I had an Endurapro for about a year before I sold it when I got my Model F. It was somewhat flimsy compared with a real Model M, but it was lighter to type on, so I think I would actually prefer the Unicomp over the Model M.

That said, Model F trumps both of them for both build quality and typing feel. Of course, you have to deal with a rather poorly designed layout.

There's a seller on eBay called ncbound10 who seems to sell one every two-three months or so. They're rare enough, but if you keep your eye out, you'll find one soon enough.

The PC/XT version is very common on eBay, however, you need to build a special adaptor to convert it from the XT-style scan codes to the AT ones that modern computers use. You also then have to content with an even worse layout.

Pretty cool! I wish you could pick up a used Customizer as cheaply as a used Model M, though. I saw a link in the eBay section to a seller who's got two Model Ms for sale for ~$21 shipped each.
