Corsair RGB K70 Versus Ducky Shine - LED brightness

I was wondering.....I have read on the corsair forums that some people think that the LED's are not that bright.  I was wondering, has anyone been able to compare the LED brightness to a Ducky Shine? I have a Ducky Shine and always been happy with that LED brightness. Was thinking about getting a Corsair K70 RGB.

If you ever want to replace the keycaps don't get the K70. It has a non-standard bottom row and the 6.5x spacebar is almost impossible to replace, since there are no aftermarket sets with 6.5x spacebar except the Max Universal semi-translucent set.

Better to wait for the period of exclusivity to end (IIRC, it's only for a year) and some other companies start making RGB boards if you want it for the RGB.

I have a K70RGB.  The LEDs aren't as bright at full brightness as the Shine III.  However, they are still nice and visible during the day, something I struggled with with the Deck keyboard's lighting and their PBT caps.  Mind you, I'm using the K70 with the Vortex PBT shine-through caps, which is a testament to how good those Vortex caps are.

I should point out, though, that Corsair have misled with their marketing.  The keyboard's advertised as supporting 24.7m colours, when in actual fact it only supports 512.  We don't know yet if this is a hardware limitation or a firmware limitation (the latter means it could be fixed).

Interesting... On my Ducky Shine III, I have the orange and keep it on with full brightness(Office has florescent lighting). Percentage wise, how would compare the 2 keyboards at full brightness?

Well, in that regard it doesn't compare that favourably.  The white on the K70 at full brightness is about the same as the Shine 3 white on the lowest brightness.  I haven't tried it in a bright office environment, but it was bright enough for day time use.  But it's certainly not as bright the Shine 3 gets at full bright.

Here's a comparison shot, though it's not terribly accurate (or *cough* focused), as the K70's lighting doesn't look that messy in real life, but gives you some idea of the different temperature of the whites.  Both keyboards are using the Vortex PBTs.

Ouch, this helps alot. Thanks. I heard Razor Chroma LED's are really bright, so I started another thread asking about that....as that would be the alternative keyboard I am thinking about getting. Nice caps, by the way.
