Just as the subject says. I appreciate references to Buddhism, the 1980's, horror movies, pop culture, Star Trek, etc. Not into Star Wars, big budget summer movies, no LOTR references, so you get my drift. Look at the names in my sig for an idea of what I want.

[EDIT] it has to be a female name, like a sailboat or a gun.

I ordered a typewriter today that is going to cost me in the neighborhood of $600 since it is a total restore job and it won't be ready for 2 months. When I get it it will be like brand new. It's a Hermes 3000 and this is what they look like:

This is not an actual pic of the one I am buying, btw.

Kirby, after the vacuum of the same name. Very much 80's looking like 50's streamline.

The Nintendo character also comes to mind as well. Come to think of it, I wonder if they were thinking of the vacuum too, seeing as how Kirby's skills work.

Forgot to mention, it has to be a female name. Sorry, I suck. I'll edit the first post.

Kirby isn't bad, and I think it's a she since it's pink, so good one.

Bertha, finally a contender. And the name Zooey freaks me out, as do most of them I have met and all were call girls or strippers or Catholics, so that might explain why I loath them so.

And all of my riters are named after real girls:
Capt Katherine Janeway
BB Kiddo from Kill Bill 2
Ellen Page

My wife named Scarlett but I like to think of it as Johanson, so there you have it. As long as it's not someone like Gauge or Aurora Snow I'll be fine.

I was thinking of another Star Trek reference: How about calling it Mr. Savik after the Vulcan Kristy Alley played in one of the movies? That way it would have have a male sound but still be a female name.

equally as ugly lol

expanding on the BB Kiddo name - Beatrix isn't horrible, although it's a very impressionable name, like Bertha. (two things come to mind, one - the mob in Super Mario Bros, and two - my Hispanic neighbor growing up that swore like a sailor)

Well, ;Mrs. Torrence is a great name, and I would have already used it, but my brother had a satanmic cat named that.

And yes, Welly is correct about me saying I'd pee on her. Yes that means I think she's hot.

Keep the names coming.

How about something exotic:
Yadira - female name meaning 'friend' in Hebrew, and can also mean 'jade' (chosen because your new typwriter will become your new typing 'friend', and also has a green/jade kind of colour)
Dunia - female name meaning 'life' in Hebrew (chosen because this typewriter will be getting a new life after restoration)

Okay, they're tenuous, but it's the best I have :)

I just use it as a convenient shorthand. Rather than saying 'the 944', I just say, 'Jake'. One syllable versus five...

Fine, but that doesn't make it cool. It's not like I am going to give this a name that makes me want to run. If that were the case, I would just name it after my stepmother and put a bomb in it that will blow up as I'm pissing on it as falls off a cliff.

Keep them coming, but Moneypenny is still in the lead, but I was thinking maybe a Bond/Geekhack nod — I could just call it M.
