Anybody here from Nebraska
« on: Fri, 07 November 2014, 12:20:51 »
Not that I've really looked hard or noticed but I've never seen any members from Nebraska before.  I think it would be pretty cool if there was another keyboard enthusiast close to me.  On the flip though, it would also be cool if I was the only member representing Nebraska.

i watched Nebraska the movie yesterday. didn't make it to the end.
sorry for the OT
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

:D bad movie, or boring?  I haven't personally watched but heard good things.  That could be from people that are biased though.

boring. probably very good for the true lovers of festival films... not for me.

Ahh cool.  I grew up in western Nebraska, by Chadron and currently live in Grand Island.

I'll have to watch it.  I feel its my duty as a Nebraskan, but I'm not a fan of festival films.

I pedaled my bike through Northern Nebraska last Summer. One of my favorite states. You can keep the baseball size hail. I was scared to death of those storms. Only protection I had was a tent and a helmet. No trees, no bridges, no homes...

Did you participate in BRAN or just for fun?

Ahh yes, Nebraska weather is certainly something.  Always windy,  and in the summer we get "lovely hail and tornados" and in the winder blizzards and cold temperatures.  Also sometimes we get 4 seasons in a year and sometimes 2 (summer, winter).  It can be 70-or 80 one day and have a blizzard the next. (It really happens).

Despite this, there is no other place I'd rather live.
