USB cable and / or sleeving

So I've purchased some USB cable from Monoprice and now two different 550 / 650 paracord to try and sleeve them. Unfortunately, the paracord is too thin or the USB cable is too thick. I can't seem to find a good combination of cable / sleeve to do the job.

I've read of this problem here on the forum but I have not found a solution.

Has anyone here tried their hand at sleeving USB cables? Is there a thinner USB cable that can be purchased for using 550 paracord? Or, is there a wider diameter paracord?

I know there are some folks here who do this sort of thing. I'm not looking to make money on this, just make the occasional cable. Any advice you guys have would be very helpful.

Really the only advice I could give you is to buy a thinner cable. I've used a "Lindy Easy Fit" USB cable and it worked very well, those are extra thin and the cable was done in no time.

About how thin is that cable? I can't seem to find any of that specific kind here in the US.

I'm not sure, but it's quite thin. Paracord has usually about the same diameter so it should work.

I was thinking of getting a coiled one, but not sure how difficult it would to sleeve one.

Have you looked at MDPC sleeves? They seem to be on the wider side.

You'll have to either pick up something that's a uniform 28ga wire to get it under the inner diameter of the paracord or be ok with cutting the plastic sleeving off the wire before sleeving with paracord.  550 is the biggest diameter paracord you can get.  That being said, there's nothing wrong with trying to find some other mono or multi filament nylon sleeving to use that would look similar, too.  Also, as mentioned, mdpc (when he's back), techflex, carbon fiber, kevlar and a bunch of others will expand bigger for you to use what you currently have.
