Can I replace my Model F XT's case with one from a Model M?

My Model F XT keyboard that I bought off of a user on Reddit today came in the mail and it feels amazing compared to my old Unicomp but the case has a crack. I know that there were Model M keyboards produced with the same case so I'm just wondering if I could just get one of those and move the XT's parts into that case. Also, I'm struggling to adapt to the weird layout, so is it possible to ANSI mod the XT? Thanks.

there were not. Lexmark did refurbish some old keyboards and accidentally put a "model M" label on the back but there are not model M keyboards with the same case design as the PC/XT model F.

The layout is the primary reason people don't like them. IT is not possible to adapt it to ANSI without replacing the PCB and controller. Look up the XTant project for more info on that.

The AT model F keyboard can be adapted to ANSI-similar layout. There are a number of excellent guides on that that I'm sure you can find by searching.

This is the keyboard that I'm buying, which seems to match your description. Thanks, I did not know that.

here are some photos of it. (taken by GH user Parak) There are some interesting bits about it, but it's all model F.

The case is larger than that of the normal PC/XT model F, and it has three stage feet. It is sometimes called "the "bigfoot" because of the larger footprint.

Unfortunately there's not a real controller onboard. IT does not output XT/AT/terminal or any other scancode set.
