£2 IBM Model M2 Repair?
« on: Mon, 24 November 2014, 10:17:15 »
I got that clicky keyboard at the bargain bazaar the other day, an I decided to go back with my friends after school today. There was a brown box. I opened. What was in it, only an IBM Model M2 1395706. I bought it for £2. Took it home, plugged it in. Caps lock and scroll lock turn on. Nothing else happens. Can't turn in the other LED. Won't register any keys. I'm assuming it's the bad capacitor problem? Any links to some caps that I could replace the bad ones with? Very chuffed with it, but it'll need some work. Any help? Thanks.

Great keyboards.  Just note it is a complete $%#% to take apart and put back together.  Be very careful when taking the stabilized keys off.  The stabilizers are all plastic and break easy.  With that being said it is a joy to type on and definitely worth repairing!  Great find.  Slightly off topic, I still find ISO layouts to look weird, but I think they are growing on me.

ISO is all I've ever used, lack of a £ sign on ANSI kinda kills it for me :P

Haha, I suppose so.  Being from the good ole USA all I've seen is ANSI.  not much need for a  £ key.
