New member from Canada!
« on: Tue, 09 December 2014, 11:42:13 »
Long time lurker on here, finally decided to make a post
First mechanical keyboard was an old Razer Black Widow, moved on to a Corsair K90 for about 2-3 years, sold that. Currently I have a Type Heaven and I have an IBM model M on its way here. Also I'm starting to have an interest in vintage mechs  :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

A good variety of switches there - have you found a particular preference yet?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Welcome, fellow Canuck.

I, too, started with the BlackWidow and moved into more vintage boards.

I started with the Corsair K90 and then I guess I have collected some vintage boards as well.
I have the two in my signature and a blue ALPS board I need to harvest if there ever is a Lightsaver with ALPS support.

Although my main driver has to be my 55g realforce with the digilog case.
I'll eventually do the landing pad mod on the thing as I've found it desperately needs it with the aluminium case.

Type Heaven was one of the boards I had when I joined this community.

Good choice!

w00t! Welcome! We needs more Canadians around here to help complain about CONUS only shipping. Maybe with enough of us, we can convince the USPS to create an exemption for cheaper international shipping rates for keyboard parts!

Meh. I just pay up the arse for shipping.
There was one time when something was CONUS and agreed to ship to me for extra.
