Welcome to GH!

Great collection of boards!
Also have you looked into to a silencing mod for the HHKB? that might help with your problem.

Welcome to Geekhack!

That is indeed quite an impressive collection you have amassed in an alarmingly short time :p

If you are using a Mac, and need a quiet keyboard, another one to consider is a Matias Quiet Pro (Mac layout): http://matias.ca/quietpro/
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I am using a mac and for that very reason I was oogling the quiet pro at one point. Ultimately I decided I don't like the case Matias puts on his boards. They look far too plasticy for my taste - too much of a throwback to the dreadful Apple USB Keyboard from abt -00.

In other news I can announce that the wallethack continues  :-[, I just bought myself yet another IBM. I just couldn't resist! It was soo tempting!

I thought you were looking for a quiet keyboard :))

Well, you know what it's like, you look for something but manage to come across something that's rather the opposite but still very irresistible.

That, and I tend to be rather weak for old IBMs.  ;D

I know how you feel!  All this talk and pictures of old IBM keyboards has made me drag my Model M out again!

Thanks for the kind words guys! After lurking a bit on different keyboard communities it strikes me that this is indeed a very friendly place to be! Quite unlike many other niche communities...

The only issue is the wallethack. But it could be worse! After all, a keyboard, or ten, is not that expensive, right  :p

You can certainly acquire 10 reasonable mechanical keyboards for not much money if you bide your time and scour online auction sites and classifieds ;)
